Three wishes…and no more

February 24, 2014

I wish we were like birds, with the ability to fly.

I wish we were like plants , to make food directly from the sun.

I wish we were like other beings, never questioning why.

But we are just human beings, so my wishing is over, and done!

2013….looking back

December 31, 2013

A fairly eventful, momentous year.
Some moments brought a tear.smile.
Many brought a smile.
Each phase lasted a little while.

There was the end of my ailing marriage.
The horse separated from the straying carriage.
There was the birth of my dear grandson.
I took care of him …and the elder one.

Grandchildren are one of life’s great joys…
Whether they are girls or boys.
I enjoyed the love of my daughter
And the joys that her life brought her.

I spent a lot of time in another home.
The baby kept me there…I didn’t roam.
I managed, through it all to click and write.
I was happy, I seemed to be doing something right.

I fought major issues in my mind, and life.
It was a time of very great strife.
Meditation and medication are seeing me through.
I still dip occasionally..and am blue.

I’m nowhere near where I want to be.
In the mirror I want to see
A much better person than I am now.
I will keep trying…that’s what I vow.

Here are my wishes to all of you, too.
I hope this year brings happiness to you.
I must say it gives me pleasure
To wish my friends…my greatest treasure.

Happy Deepavali…slightly in advance!

November 7, 2007

We may be going out of town again today, so here’s wishing everyone a very happy Deepavali or Dhanteras (the 13th day of the moon, dedicated to wealth!)(or Lakshmi Puja .. or Kaali Pujo in Bengal)….

Many people begin a new year now, starting their business accounts afresh.

Several north Indians have a practice of playing cards (actually, 3-card poker) for money, throughout the night…it’s their way of saluting Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. I suppose it is also a great reminder of how capriciously Lakshmi bestows her favours!

Ooops…

Half the day and more have gone by and I have forgotten to put on record my b’day wishes to amoghavarsha…Hoppy birdy, Lee!

January 13, 2007

Wanted to go to kalyan‘s LJ to wish him a happy birthday…and then decided I would catch him on YM…sent him a message only to realize he had just logged off..and now, as I get to sit down at the laptop, I realize it’s already the 14th over there…

Oh well, it’s the wish that counts…and so, kalyan, here’s wishing you the very best for the other 364 days ahead of your next birthday!

Wishes….

Anniversary wishes to shortindiangirl. It’s also a couple of years since chaibacca got married. Any others with birthdays or anniversaries out there? I am thinking of all of you….and here’s wishing vyshnavi all the happiness that can come her way!

Did I? Didn’t I?

January 4, 2007

I don’t like mass-mailing my friends with New Year or other festive wishes (see amoghavarsha‘s post,

http://amoghavarsha.livejournal.com/73411.html

for much the same opinion)

…but I can now see ONE reason why people would do it.

I find myself thinking, every now and then….did I wish X? Y? Z? and what about all those other alphabets I am friendly with?

I am hoping that all my friends will realize that I am like this vunly, and will wish back when someone wishes me…but will not send new year greetings to some thousands of people.

All of you out there…Happy Birthday, whenever that is!!

It’s a Jolly Holly Day!

December 23, 2006

We are leaving for Maine (Christmas), Connecticut (wedding on the 29th) , and then California (KM’s entire family is getting together) , early tomorrow…don’t know how my internet access will be…so here’s wishing everyone a Merry Christmas with this spray of real holly, that I photographed just outside the St Louis Cathedral…
