K1’s progress with Hindi: Blr, 110716

July 11, 2016

She first looked at the Hindi alphabet in March of this year…and I think her progress (while handling so much that is new and tough) is excellent. Here she is (as usual, in the car!) reciting a Hindi poem about a bird:

Both my daughter and my granddaughter continue to amaze me….!

Pleasanter stuff: back with my family…..

August 8, 2014

KTB starts school on Monday, 11th August, 2014; she will attend Wilkinsons School, where she will also participate in a program for gifted children (but will be most of the time with ALL children.)

Here is the family, at the pre-school “picnic” which turned into an indoor meet because of a heavy thunderstorm:

Here she is, with her class teacher, Miss Paige Blansett:

With the Principal, Dr Wuchs:

and last but not least, Our Imp of the (as yet) Illiterate:

The painters are overrunning their schedule by over a week; the house is topsy-turvy (I can’t even unpack!), A is having an emergency at work and was out at work all night..but family cuddles go on:

My darlings, it’s worth all the trouble and expense I go through, to see them!

And, in St.Louis…..200714

July 20, 2014

I had a lovely video chat with my daughter, and the added bonus (bonii!) were:

the boods 2 200714

It got even more delightful….

theboods200714 one

One Booda fully festooned with oatmeal…reminds me of the abhishEkam we do for our stone idols!

My heart is already in St.Louis!

It’s a pity the picture quality is so poor…

Conversation on the colour of eyes, 080714

July 9, 2014

A: My beautiful brown eyed sweetheart…
K: Nnnyyy, I want blue eyes…
A: But why, you have lovely eyes
K: But everyone pretends they are chocolate and tries to eat them
A: But if you have blue eyes, then people will pretend they are blueberries, and try to eat them too.
K: No, Madison says that blue eyes are water, and no one likes to have water that much, so I want blue eyes.

Here are those eyes, on 150210:

A birthday card….STL, 310514

June 5, 2014

KTB drew these for her father’s birthday…

bday card 310514

KTB is on the right, in her “Elsa” dress (made for her birthday by her father’s mother), giving the card to her dad; her mother is between them. Her little brother is very little indeed, and her friends Ananya and Aditi are only slightly larger!

This one seems to have a lot of hearts in it, and a nice message!

Meanwhile, in STL….

May 31, 2014

I’m busy posting about my Kudremukh program, but when The Boods intervene, they take priority.

So here’s The Booda, who was given this sleeveless tee (it’s called a wife-beater, no doubt after the ‘macho’ hunks who wear it and indulge in that particular pastime!):

And AM writes that she and her daughter are usually basket cases in the morning:

Oh, I agree! The primary basket case is sitting here, enjoying the photographs!

KTB singing “Let It Go”

May 12, 2014

AM has shared this on FB, so you do need an FB account to see

KTB singing “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen

Here are the lyrics (I don’t know this song and googled them online)

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of isolation,
and it looks like I’m the Queen
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in;
Heaven knows I’ve tried

Don’t let them in,
don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel,
don’t let them know
Well now they know

Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore

Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don’t care
what they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway

It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can’t get to me at all

It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me,
I’m free!

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see me cry
Here I stand
And here I’ll stay
Let the storm rage on

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back, the past is in the past

Let it go, let it go
And I’ll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on

The cold never bothered me anyway!

Here’s the song from the movie:

For some reason, it’s amazing when you realize your child’s child can sing…!

She turned five…

April 30, 2014

Yesterday, April 29th, was the day Eli/Biddli/Boodi Ma/Beedool turned five.

She loves dressing up and is quite the girly girl. Her especial favourites are “sparkly shoes”…she seems to have got a new pair for this birthday!

Her paternal grandparents were there to wish her and cherish her…well, I can’t complain, I’ll be there, too, in the course of time!

Happy birthday, my dear angel fairy, may magic dust touch you all your life.

She’s learnt other lovely songs, too….

March 23, 2014

she’s been learning more songs at Urban Sprouts, her day care….

I ‘d LOVE to sit by her all the time!

Some photos of the family and by the family….

Here’s The Booda, all dressed even when there was nowhere to go…

About this sketch, KTB said, “This is me sitting criss-cross applesauce, and Kalyan is sitting on my lap”.

One has to look carefully at this dark photograph to see KTB rapt in her very first visit to a theatre…
