Dancing in the park, 200314

April 4, 2014

There is a park close to KM’s apartment where children are charged Rs.5 each for entry (adults get in free)..this goes, I think, towards maintenance of the playground equipment. At one edge of the small park is a stage, and children can dance to the music. Both the Boodi and the Booda had a great time there, in spite of recurrent fever and fretfulness.

Trust is a matter of learning to fall into one’s grandfather’s arms.

Here are The Boods, enjoying themselves….

Though the visit was full of fever, work, and was not relaxed, we still had some wonderful moments…and I miss them so!

Swan Lake

April 22, 2012

I’ve watched Swan Lake being performed at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Bangalore, performed by the Kiev Ballet, many years ago, under the aegis of ICCR, Indian Council for Cultural Relations(which seems to be a moribund organization now.)

I just watched this acrobatic version from China.

Of course, those of you who are new here may not know that I already have

a ballerina in the family

One day, I’ll go to Moscow and watch the ballet…one day…one day….

Momix in Botanica in St Louis

September 14, 2011

DnA ….that’s and

went to

this dance perforance, Momix in Botanica

in St.Louis yesterday.

here are some more stunning images

here is the review

A’s words? “It was a beautiful poetic interpretation of the artistry of nature
There were hornets hopping, swans preening, flowers playfully swaying, leaves falling to the ground (all portrayed so beautifully by people). And in the end as an encore, they did a sun flare dance, waving flexible orange foam sticks quickly to make flares. It was just incredible.”

Just in case you didn’t click on the link, here are some images, taken by Max Pucciariello:

Caution: this is an AWWW post and probably not of interest to anyone not related to KTB 🙂

KTB’s uncle and aunt got her a tutu and a “head-frill” for her birthday, and she suddenly wanted to wear it this weekend. So her mother also showed her a ballet video:

Of course our little ballerina was very enthused….and I got to make my own ballet video!

So that’s our homegrown Anna Pavlova…

The Dancer in the Clouds…

March 21, 2009

While at Ragihalli, I took a picture of what I thought was a dancer in the clouds, trailing a glorious train of light…

mohanvee said that it reminded him of a spectre; but even that, I would say, is a beneficient spectre, one that lives in the light of the sky, and blesses us from above.

What does the picture look like to YOU?

I enjoyed the performance of the dancing drummers from Manipur

She was one of the very pretty group of dancers at the play by Evam; they danced very well, but were more of a stage device as eye candy for the audience while they cleared away some props and put others in place:

Ostrich Mating Dance…with an Audience…

August 12, 2007

We watched the male and female Masai ostriches shivering their plumes in their ritual mating dance. They were pretty far away…but then, from the grass, two most unexpected heads popped up. Two cheetahs, taking their ease, languidly watched the ras-leela entertainment provided for them!

Once again, apologies for the graininess…its a camera video, the subjrcts were really far ooff (Nearly a mile away) and this was the first time I was shooting something like this…but it was riveting and I wanted to share it with everyone, too!
