Donde esta Santa Claus?

December 24, 2012

It’s Christmas Eve…Silvesterabend…and here’s one of my favourite children’s songs.

here

are the lyrics.

Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus?
Donde esta Santa Claus?
And the toys that he will leave?
Mamacita, oh, where is Santa Claus?
I look for him because it’s Christmas Eve.

I know that I should be sleeping,
But maybe he’s not far away,
Out of the window I’m peeping,
Hoping to see him in his sleigh.

I hope he won’t forget
to clack his castinet,
And to his reindeer, say,
“Oh Pancho, Oh! Vixen, Oh! Pedro, Oh! Blitzen,”
Ole! Ole! Ole!
cha cha cha.

Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus?
Oh! Where is Santa Claus?
It’s Christmas Eve.
Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus?
I look for him because it’s Christmas Eve.
I know that I should be sleeping,
But maybe he’s not far away,
Out of the window I’m peeping,
Hoping to see him in sleigh.

I hope he won’t forget
to crack his castinet,
And to his reindeer, say,
“Oh Pancho, Oh! Vixen, Oh! Pedro, Oh! Blitzen,”
Ole! Ole! Ole!
cha cha cha.
Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus?
Oh! Where is Santa Claus? It’s Christmas Eve.
It’s Christmas Eve. It’s Christmas Eve. It’s Christmas Eve.
Alright, Mamacita. I’ll go to sleep now. It’s Christmas Eve……

Merry Christmas, and happy holidays, everyone!

Merry Chinmas!

December 24, 2011

I got this lovely pic from who was chatting with D, A and KTB on Skype and took a webshot.

For some reaon, everyone has a chin-in-hand (maybe a chin in hand is better than two in the bush?)…so…Merry Chinmas to all of you!

The Birth of a Sun or a Son, as the Case May Be

December 25, 2008

Went off to the flag off of the TFN cyclng event , and then to Lalbagh…

The light was just magical, and the sun through the foliage reminded me that today there was also a Son born into the world! The light also reminded me of the Star of Bethelehem….

The rest of the post is

We saw a Kestrel, a Spotted Owlet, and here’s another view of the spectacular Asian Paradise Flycatcher….

I did regret not having the 20D, but made do with the MLC, the S3. and indeed, it was better, because I took a video of the bird whisking itself about in the tree:

Merry Christmas, every one! I may not be, strictly, a “Christian”, but I love to think of a divine Child being born, who will save mankind…surely, our children are our immortality and our hope. With a granddaughter on her way into our lives, I feel more intensely the joy that a new birth brings….

It’s a Jolly Holly Day!

December 23, 2006

We are leaving for Maine (Christmas), Connecticut (wedding on the 29th) , and then California (KM’s entire family is getting together) , early tomorrow…don’t know how my internet access will be…so here’s wishing everyone a Merry Christmas with this spray of real holly, that I photographed just outside the St Louis Cathedral…

Christmas Trees

December 19, 2006

After reading asakiyume‘s post, I realized that I have never been comfortable with the idea of cutting down a tree just to use it as a decoration for a few days or weeks…when my sambandhis came over to India in 2000, I hunted and found a sparse, somewhat sad-looking conifer in a pot and decorated that….I knew they didn’t like having an artificial one, and I didn’t like a dead one, so that was the way I dealt with it….they were too polite to make the comparisons with the lush tree they would have had at home, and accepted the spirit of my having a Christmas tree and decorations for them.

I still hate the idea of cutting down trees, especially when the tree is supposed to represent life continuing in the winter. And last time I saw all those discarded, dead trees when I returned to St Louis…not many becasue I left by Dec 30 or so…but enough to sadden me…

Whey can’t it become a custom to have live trees in planters, which can be planted later on?

Similarly, I would like to change the custom of blowing out candles on a birthday cake to lighting a lamp somewhere and then just cutting and distributing a cake…I am somehow not comfortable with putting out a light as a mark of celebration. How did this custom come about?

A new Christmas Carol

November 30, 2006

‘Twas the night before Christmas–Old Santa was pissed.
He cussed out the elves and threw down his list.
Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks.
I have a good mind to scrap the whole works!

I’ve busted my ass for damn near a year,
Instead of “Thanks Santa”–what do I hear?
The old lady bitches cause I work late at night.
The elves want more money–The reindeer all fight.

Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids.
Donner is pregnant and Vixen has AIDS.
And just when I thought that things would get better
Those assholes from the IRS sent me a letter,
They say I owe taxes–if that ain’t damn funny
Who the hell ever sent Santa Claus any money?

And the kids these days–they all are the pits
They want the impossible–Those mean little shits
I spent a whole year making wagons and sleds
Assembling dolls…Their arms, legs and heads
I made a ton of yo-yo’s–No request for them,
They want computers and robots…they think – I’m IBM!

Flying through the air…dodging the trees
Falling down chimneys and skinning my knees
I’m quitting this job there’s just no enjoyment
I’ll sit on my fat ass and draw unemployment.

There’s no Christmas this year now you know the reason,
I found me a blonde. I’m going SOUTH for the season..
